How to Prescribe

Medical practitioners can apply to prescribe a particular product to an individual patient for a specific medical condition. They have to give information such as clinical justification for the patient and clinical evidence about the product.

Also, because all of our cannabis products contain higher than 2% CBD, Australian law dictates that these are schedule 8 medicines. Therefore, you must have the authority to prescribe schedule 8 medicines.

Below is a step by step guide on how you can prescribe our medicinal cannabis products for your patients:

1. Fill out a SAS B Form

Fill out a SAS B Form (Special Access Scheme Category B Form) from the TGA. We have already filled out the sponsor information for you.

2. Provide clinical justification

Provide clinical justification for the patient and clinical evidence about cannabis and the condition in question.

3. Send SAS B Form

Send SAS B form and our product details to the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration). This approval process takes approximately six working days. Forms can be emailed to SAS@health.gov.au (preferred method) or faxed to (02) 6232 8112.

4. Additional state approval

You may need additional state approvals depending on what part of Australia you live. See here for details.

5. Send TGA approval

Once approved, send the TGA approval to the patient who can take it to their pharmacy of choice. They will contact Herba Healthcare with details of the approval and their Pharmacy Registration.

6. Dispense to patient

Herba Healthcare will ship the medication to the pharmacy, and then dispense it to the patient to commence heir treatment.
